I am curious what I should expect to pay to have a thruster installed on my 40 Ocean.
Thanks
Don't know your boat but if anything has to be modified to make room for the tunnel then expect added cost. some boats have either water or holding tanks in the way and have to be modified for an example.
I have seen some on line quotes from other boaters and thought, what a bargain.
I found the reciepts from the install on my boat from the PO and it was around $17,000.
this included some modifications,a 8D gel and its own charger plus the thruster of course and plenty of labor cost. Thruster controls also wired to both helms. Glad it was not my bill.
There are many to consider. Brand, size, hull modification (if any) Battery location, interior modifications, type of controls etc. Look up Flirida Bow Thruster on line and give them a call. They will come to you and they do very good work and are Vetus dealers. FWIW, I have run that model Ocean a few times and never felt the need for a thruster. Maybe, after a few more times running her, you will not feel the need either........... and end up saving a bunch of dollars you can use on fuel.

Thanks for the info. I don't expect I will need one either. I have not even stepped foot on theboat yet so I really have no basis for a comment on how it handles. I will be on the boat for the first time on the 28th of December

OCEAN 40 SS ***FOR SALE*** ......... or trade for Downeast style boat
I've done three installations with www.floridabowthrusters.com , no problems, fastest in the business and the best priced plus they'll go to where ever the boat is to do the installation.
"Ship shape TV" (yeah, I know) did a show on bow thrusters two weeks ago. It was a bums rush tour, but it showed whats involved with a new install. I think they mentioned it would cost about $12.5k for a 40ish boat.

I ceretainly would not want an external thruster.................UGLY!!
I dunno, you could always buy a couple of MIG fighter engines off ebay and mount them on the bow - one pointing starboard and the other port. I think that would look AWESOME! Besides, it would be cool watching the neighboring boats melt as you idled by.
