I've been looking at 30-34' cc. Like a bit more beam than speed. Have looked at the Pursuit 3070cc (stopped making in 2006 to go to narrower beam) and Sea Vee. The Edgewater has a great finish and is outfitted the way I like, I just don't know that much about the brand. Any advice would be appreciated.
Several things that separate Edgewater from others mentioned, lifetime transferable warranty, vinylester resin (no blistering), no-wood construction, unsinkable. Many claim unsinkability, few really are.
Top notch brand, up there with the best of the CC's in my opinion. They really understand the crossover between a boat for fishing and a boat for family, in my view their layout beats everyone from this standpoint.
In July I purchased a new 245 EW CC and have put 125 hours on boat since. I have been very pleased with the boat and have found the fit and finish to be top notch. I enjoy treating a boat like a jet ski and to push it to its limits and the EW has responded outstanding. It has perform very well in 5-7 ' seas and you felt the boat was solid and could take more. This boat will get you back home safely. The boat is a dry boat and makes you work at getting your passengers wet if you want. I would buy this boat again. Flat out she will do 52 mph and you can have a conversation with little engine noise. The boat is a great combination of fishing and family boat and it's "unsinkable". There was a few warranty issues but the dealer and factory responded quickly and professionally. The factory folks from the President down are available to the customer and there is not finger pointing or blowing you off. I have had Sea Ray, Pro Lines, Thompson's, Parkers, Pursuits and Tiaras and have found the Edgewater at the top of the list. Before I purchased I also put out a request for info and owners like the Pig and cold beers gave great reviews, I have never heard of any problems with the boat and the factory backs it up.
The Edgewater 318 is a great boat. Wide beam gives a great ride and there is alot of room for moving around. The boat fishes well and the family will like cruising on it also. You might want to check out some of the fishing mag. reports on it, they also spoke very highly of that model and brand.Saltwater mag., Sportfishing mag., and Center Console mag. are some that have tested it.
I bought our 245 Edgewater new in 2004. I now have 800 hours on it. I have had zero problems with the hull. I have had to replace a couple of bait pumps. The construction is very good. I would buy another Edgewater tomorrow. I have not had to have the factory for any service, but I have called on them with some questions and all ways got a fast answer.
