RE: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
1998 25 Contender wit 2 x 200 HPDI with 19 pitch props. I can plane with full live well (38 gal in transom), 150 gal of gas, 4 guys + gear and run 32 knots on 1 engine at WOT.
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
'97 Grady White Sailfish -- Yamaha 225efis -- Not a chance
'99 World Cat 266SF -- Optimax 150s -- No problem, topped out around 30mph, ran comfortably at 22 mph
'00 Mirage 32 -- Volvo KADP-44s -- Not a chance
'03 World Cat 270TE -- Yamaha F225s -- Struggled mightily, but could maintain 20-22 MPH but didn't seem happy
'00 Pursuit 3070 -- Yamaha F250s -- Not a chance
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
2006 grady 258 twin 150 3 men 150 gallons gas will not happen. i lost power in 1 motor this summer 40 miles out of hatteras had to come in on 1 motor anything over 3500 rpm good motor would start to over heat fast top speed with 1 motor was around 9 mph
RE: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
Boston Whaler full cabin 27 with twin 225's--no dice. Went to the catalog, it says minimum HP to get the boat on plane is 300. Anyone with this question about their own boat might want to refer to the mfgr's specs, as I am sure the other mfg's have this all figured out too.

31 contender with twin 300s....no chance
27 contender with twin 250s....no chance
That's funny cause our 27 Contender with twin 200's will plane easily on one engine.
The 26 regulator we had with twin 225's wouldn't plane on one unless you have 3-6 guys in the bow.
NO WAY IN HE11! We can't get my buddies 25 contender up on one 200 hpdi...my 27 with 250 hpdis would not even come close with 19-21 props....keep dreamin
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
25 pursuit with twin 200s can plane on 1. Needs tabs and have to lift the dead motor out of the water. With the motor down, no dice. Tops out at 4500 RPM.
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
Parker 2510 with twin F150's. Nope. But I was able to stay on plane once when I cut one engine and pulled ip up before coming off plane (light load though). I just wanted to see what would happen.

I have no trouble getting a 25 on plane with a single 200 HPDI with 19 pitch - try tilting the unused motor out of the water!

tried once ,not a chance. and the boat is maxed in power and will run 60.

23T Contender w/200 hpdi's
That seems odd considering that a few have reported getting their Contender 25 on plane with a single Z200. I think we also have one member that got his 23T on plane with one F150...
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
Try tilting the unused motor out the water??? You don't think that is the first thing one would do?? The 25 is not personally my boat...but the guy who runs it is a very knowlegable captain and I can promise you he did everything he could to get that boat on plane to come in on one from 100 plus miles...no dice...he did have a REAL load though...4-5 hundred lbs of ice, 5 people, half fuel, 15 yellowfin, gear, etc
My 27 had 250s and we tried to get it out the hole with 3 different props with 3 people and half a tank of fuel...not even close...no way a 200 hpdi gets a 27 contender on plane (and no...slugging along at 15 mph is not on plane)
Re: Will your twin powered boat plane on 1 engine?
I am surprised that Gordon's Tom Cat 24 will plane on one 90. Must have the boat very light--one person etc. We tried it with a neighbor's 24 and Yahama 115 (4 adults and half fuel)--it would not plane. My Tom Cat 255 will not plane with Suzuki 150. Nor will any of the other TC 255's plane on a single engine.
