Let's see. Had the wrap removed and preped by the end of March. Been waiting for the weather to change. Waxed the hull (again) on Sunday (Small Craft Advisory). Will launch and put it in her slip on Saturday.
As if this freakin winter hasn't been enough.
Funny thing, I was going that way on Monday to launch and my wife says "why don't you just do Boston Harbor?......and I did. Womans intuition?
Anyway, hopefully we'll be repaid with another banner year in the fish dept.
LOBSTA,
Needham, ma?
I grew up in Needham, moved to Medfield. Great town. Prices have changed a LITTLE since.
Maybe I'll see you at Dunkin with your 202 sometime.
I'm headed to Falmouth friday, just in time for the rain to move in. I should name the boat "perfect timing" It seems everytime I go to use it something prevents me.
hey, don't worry guys. by all reports, and personal experience, there isn't much running at the moment. ya ain't missing much.
The togs made it to the close of season without showing. The flounder aren't around. The stripers are still way up-river or down coast. Only cod seem to be around, and the weather doesn't let you out many days to look.
Put the extra wax on, check the wiring, and add that new toy. You still have time.
No commercial....Rec license, costs 40.00/yr and I can take as many as I can catch!! Sometimes its a struggle to get dinner but other times we can get 30-40 between us on two dives and then we keep them in a pen for future use. We feed them striper heads and leftover herring while there in the "hotel" as we call it. They get first class treatment!!
Best 40 bucks I spend all year!!
Nice lobstas! I'm new to the site but I run some traps (family plan) off of MV. I put the traps in last Sunday and plan on checking them friday or saturday. Hoping for a good catch. I run the pots with my roomate and uncle who are both from Needham, and I actually bought a few traps from a guy in Needham who makes them in his garage. Definitely a nice town. Good luck out there with the lobstas this season!

You can apply for the "family" license at the Mass web page www.sport.state.ma.us. The "family" or non commercial license allows you to set out 10 traps and costs about $40 or $50. The traps will run you another $50 or so each.

It has nothing to do with a "family". It's just a non-commercial diver/10 pot license. I still remember when the license was free. (Of course, I also still have my FREE AIR FOR LIFE cards on my sets of twin 50's) Unfortunately, after several ownership changes & bankruptcies, the old Northeast Scuba is long gone.
No, I'm the next marina down at Tuck Pt. Right in front of the condos. As far as the dive shop, I've been dealing with Bob Boyle since he was the tank boy at the original Northeast Scuba. I've sent a lot of people to Bobbie through the years.
How do you catch a lobster while diving? I would think they can swim fast with the tails. In the trp out of the water its easy to grab them. Is it true the legal size has gone up this year.
You stick your hand in his hole & try to get on top of his claws, slide down to the body & pull him out. That's if everything goes well. You do not want to just yank the claws as they will rip off. You go to the link below & look at Herman the lobsta. That one was backed way in & I had to go in after him. My body from the waist up was in the same hole as him. Scales only went to 20 lbs. Bottomed them right out & that was while I was supporting the claws because he didn't fit on the tray. Herman the lobsta!
