Default Pursuit Denali 2460 Experience?

I am interested in moving up to this boat from a 20' Proline WA. I am primarily fishing and cruising, wife wants to be able to ski.
They advertise this boat as "sport utility" good for fishing and skiing, but has anyone actually skied/wakeboard behind it? How does it handle? Suck up a lot of gas?
My Proline isn't greatest for skiing but we do it. Any experience with this boat towing skis? thanks

I'm sorry but I can't specifically answer your question i would like to add. I was at the Mid America indoor boat show today and looked at the Pursuits. The are amoung the nicest boats around. Fit and finish is excellent. The frame to the windshield says it all. Hard to say if anyone else is at that level. I left very impressed with pursuit. The Denali is a very nice boat. It has a nice cuddy also.

I believe the denali is built on the 2470 hull with inboard power and a lot more weight added for "cruising amenties". As a result the performance specs (see www.pursuitboats.com) show my 2470 CC with 300hp outboard power running circles around the denali. But, each to his own...the 2470 CC is a "top gun" fishing and going machine. The denali is for more dignified "pursuits"!

Great boats!

Willowsman:
Can't say exactly about skiing, wakeboarding, but have spent some time in this boat. My cousin bought new approximately 5 years ago. We fish Great Lakes for Salmon, he does a little short-hop type crusing, nothing extended. Boat works out well for fishing, construction is solid, seating for a fishing type boat is excellent. He has the Mercruiser IO with mid-size V8 and duo prop option, believe it's the Bravo 1 outdrive. He's had no major issues with anything, to my knowledge. The type resin used must be very good, as he's kept in various marinas (in a slip) and has not bottom painted, nor barrier coated, etc. When asked about cleaning his bottom, he just says that he needs clean off the algae and slime as soon as it comes out of water, he also puts on a coat of wax or two in Spring. The boat gets on plane very easily with three of us aboard, wake seems a little on the smallish side. I don't know any reason why the boat wouldn't work well for activities like your interested. His boat also has the trim tabs built in, located under the transom. They do not protrude out behind the transom, but seem to work well. Also, boat is not difficult loading on trailer, he uses a Powerwinch. About the only negative, if you can call it that, are the scuppers. These are located in the corners of cockpit and do drain overboard. However, depending upon amount of fuel, and individuals, he will frequently get a small amount of water bubbling up through the scuppers. Depending upon the load, a small puddle may form on either the Port or starboard aft corners. Not positive, but am thinking this is primarly when we're in some kind of rough water and fishing.

I have a 1996 2460 Denali that has turned out to be a great little fisher/family cruiser. I have had it for a little over a year now and have been very pleased with the boat. Email me if you have specific questions.

I love Pursuits as well. If I decide to go to a trailerable boat the 2470 WA would be my no. 1 choice. I think they are top knotch. However if skiing is your big thing with a fish boat, you may want to consider the Shamrock 246. It is a straight inboard that gives the boat great balance for skiing.. I would put a 4 blade prop on it for a better hole shot.here is the link..

We bought a 1996 Denali last spring. The former owner used it as a ski boat but we are more in to fishing and cruising. We have the 5.7 litre Volvo Penta. It uses less gas than the 88 Evinrude on my 17 foot Whaler. After one season, we are very fond of this boat. It is used in coastal North Carolina. There will probably be trips offshore in the boat's future. Let me know if you have other questions. Peter
