Default Attention all Cobia owners (25' Cobia Walkaround)

I'm am looking at purchasing a used 25' Cobia Walkaroud for salmon fishing the Great lakes. The boat is a 2001 demo with twin 115 Yamaha 4 strokes. Pretty much loaded for 46,806$. My biggest concern is quality. Can you guys help me out. Any opinions are appreciated.

Get ready for it...

Cobia part of C&C (Century & Cobia) manufacturing was purchased by Yamaha back in the late 90s. Yamaha got a deal because C&C let a few bad boats go out the door did not rectify them and their reputation tanked. A lot of people have never forgiven C&C for that. Yamaha though has corrected as much as could be expected. C&C offers a 10 year hull warranty the longest in the industry.

But they still carry the burden of the rep. So keep that in mind it may have some impact on resale value but should be priced in to your boat. Check out what used boats like this are going for on Boattraderonline.com. Cobia is the lower end of the C&C line and is positioned as a lower tier boat so there are some structural differences between these and the top end boats. They are still good boats.

Blue skies, rising tides and tight lines...

I just bought a 2001 254 Center console- with twin 115 four strokes- couldn't be happier- it was equipped with an autopilot which I found I can't live without now. I wish the 150 four strokes were available in 2001- the boat is slightly underpowered IMO, but then again I am a speed freak- the boat is very easy on gas and has a top speed of around 48 mph- I paid 44K for mine.

at 3800 to 4100 rpm it is burining around 9-10 gallons per hour total for both engines - according to the gauges- speed at those rpms between 28 to 31 mph. generally after a day of fishing- between the run and trolling I am getting slightly over 3 mpg
