Default Selling VHF with DSC/MMSI programmed???

I am selling my DSC enabled radio (replacing with better model).
I am NOT selling my boat.

I have programmed my DSC # into radio. Can only program 2xs before sending back to manufacturer.

Do I need a new MMSI # if seling just the radio?
Can't be good idea to leave my # in the radio.

What should I do with my current # that is in radio if I keep the same MMSI?

I am not sure you can just wipe out the MMSI # from the radio (Uniden Solara).

Yes, the buyer needs a new MMSI. You can -zero- it out and sell it with only one left if that's what it takes to make you feel comfortable. Your old MMSI can be used for the replacement unit you are going to use though.

I have TowBoatUS. Check their directions. It should also be in with the literature that came with your unit, if you still have it.

Good luck!

What you would want is for them to issue a new # mapping to your new radio/old vessel
and re-map the old # to the new owner of the old radio.

Yes, it does. Simply cancel your account (this is one of the options after signing on) and the new owner can register the radio at his leisure.
