Random Quote: DONT STEAL, the government hates competition
Just rode the new Scout 29 today with twin 250 Yamahas. Great boat, Great style, fast ride. Center steering position like the larger Gradys. Nice Raymarine 120 built into the console. Lightest steering I've ever seen, could steer with 1 finger at any speed. Fit and finish top notch. Had a diesel generator that was quiet, Could run for something like 80 hours on 15 gal. Large live well and good fish boxes. Cabin was well laid-out, including great sound system, large flat-screen TV. Looks like a winner to me.
Scout 262 Abaco
It is day and night compared to my 262 Abaco. Exterior is very similar looking, but the interior is laid-out different. Wider beam, large cockpit. Seriously considering upgrading, depending on price. They are working on that this week, unknown right now.....
I forgot my camera. They are doing a photo shoot tomorrow........
Scout 262 Abaco
Since you forgot your camera ....
When you say day and night comp. to ther 262 does this include the ride? I was very pleased with the 262's test ride. Is this better ? (obviously its a bigger boat, but... you know what I mean).
The thing that held me back from the 262 was the cockpit. Very small (for me) fishboxes and livewell. Does the 295 have in-floor fishboxes, and a transom livewell. Tackle storage space? Any perf. numbers?
I can't wait to see it.
nicktg,
Yes, the ride is even better than the 262 (longer boat, more weight). Yes the boat has a large transom live well, like the 28 Sportfish. Two nice in-floor fish boxes drained by diaphragm pump. Big tackle drawers too. Yamaha will publish a report soon. What surprised me was kick-in the pants acceleration with this boat. Reminded me of my old classic Donzi. I didn't ride wide open, but one of the salesmen said they ran 52 MPH with 7 guys onboard yesterday.
Scout 262 Abaco
hey boats742, this is the guy that gave you a lift to your boat that day (seamist pioneer). your 26 is a beauty, I wish i would have climbed around on it.
I have the same tow vehicle, that 29 might be a bit to tow. Next time I see you out, I want to have my wife look at your abaco, i've always loved that boat, trying to figure out if my next bigger boat will a cc (waiting on the next pioneer) or perhaps a wa.

Thanks for the updated info.
I hate to be annal (!) but when you say "28 sportfish" I sure hope you don't mean the new 282, because those round livewells in the aft corners won't cut it for me. Now if you mean the older 280... that was one of the best layed out fishing CCs ever (livewells + fishboxes + storage GALORE!).
As for the perf. #'s I was sure Scout would do wonders again. I bet the mpg #'s will be a suprise for many as well.
2 different fuels, tanks, fills. Sooner or later someone will put the wrong fuel in the wrong tank.
GW started offering diesel Fischer Panda gensets in 2003 and now uses them exclusively. Several other outboard builders now also offer a dieset genset including BW, Pursuit, Proline, etc.
less vapor danger in bilge
much less CO danger
longer running on fuek (4.2KW runs 40 hrs on 12 g)
FP is in a capsule, protected from elements, and is VERY quiet
What is the actual length of the hull not including the swim platform? Is it (layout) meant to be more fishing friendly or family cruising friendly?
I'll definitely have to check this one out..
