Default Yamaha YDS and Windows Vista

I see that Yamaha's Diagnostic System specifies Windows 2000 or XP. Has anyone successfully used it with Vista? Were there any issues with downloading the database? Is there a work-around for use with Vista? Thanks.

Bill,

Uninstall the program(if you already installed it). Re-install the program. Then..........do not open the program , but right click on the YDS desktop icon(you might have to create one) and go down to the properties tab and click on that.

Once you are in there, you should see a tab at the top called compatabilites. Click that. Check the box that says run in Windows XP Service Pack 2 mode. Save all of that and back out.

Open the program and then you should be able to install the database. Connect thecableto the engine......turn the ignition key on........walla!!

Hi !!
I tried the Win XP 2 route but it did not work. I then used the Win 2000 Compatibilty option (One of the good things about Windows is that you are enabled to hit it over the had as many times as you like and usually you get it to work - Thus their success).

My Vista has Service Pack 1 , possible that they knocked out or left out the XP mode; but like I said.....

Thanks Andy for pointing the way !!

I just tried every version of compatability with my computer and none of them worked. Any other suggestions?

Update: Loaded on my work laptop with windows XP and it runs fine
