Random Quote: I owe the government $3,400 in taxes. So I sent them two hammers and a toilet seat.
I want to get out of my Pursuit 2470 with outboards for a diesel center console. I don't see many options out there. Does anyone have any suggestions. I usually buy used boats three or four years old. I am hoping to find a boat 26' to 30' long.
I dreamt about a single b series cummins powered 32 Cary with a pocketed straight shaft for YEARS. Wide beam, engine under floor (yes it fits), center console, shallow draft with bow thruster. I got as far as designing the pocket, running gear and stringer system then got bored.
I currently have a 27 tides with a single 370 yanmar. It is an awesome boat. You can see it in the for say area. You will not be able to find a better built, better looking single diesel center console type boat out there.
There is an interesting writeup on a 34cc outboard and diesel Spectre in Motorboating magazine recently. I know nothing about these boats but the fuel saved on the diesel was astounding and top-end speed was the same. They also noted the twin diesels were quieter at speed than the triple O/B's. Again I know nothing of this boat brand but it at least was eye-opening to me.
Liz,
I saw the same article on the 34' Spectre CC. Much better mileage with the twin Diesels and top end of 60 MPH. Supposedly this is the only diesel boat running on the SKA circuit. Seemed interesting.

This is a Chesapeake Bay builder that's building a 26' straight inboard diesel. They're planning to show it for the first time at the Miami show this winter.
They're planning to show it as an express, but it was originally (and still can be) intended to be a CC.
