Default Palm beach 205 whitecap key largo206

I am very close to buying this boat 20ft with a 150 4 stroke yamaha all 2006 brand new. looking for some insight from anyone who owns this model or has riddin on one. I am aware they are basic utilitarian type layout. wonder how well they hold up after a few years how well they handle a bay chop, is it dry ride. any help would be great.
Thanks Joe

Joe, I have a 1999 161 whitecap that I use for inshore and skinny water fishing. It is a barebones, no frills boat. It has held up great to the elements as it it stored outside. I compare it to a Jeep CJ, use it ,abuse it, hose it down and put it away. I love it for what it is.
Palm Beach and Key Largo are from the same MFG. so go with the one who's dealer you feel most comfortble with.

I have a friend with the Palm Beach 20 exactly as you said, 150 4S from 2006, IMO the ride was pretty well and rum better than Angler, he goes offshore too w/o problems, looks good and the line looks like a GW 20. That's only my opinion, but you decided the best fix for you.

Have been on a Palm Beach Several times and find it to be a very good ride. The layout was poor IMO but the ride pretty dam good. I may be wrong but they may be designed off of the orig Seacraft Hull design just as my sailfish is? Oh well if I am wrong but the one I was on I thought was a 21 and rode as well as a 23 Key West I fished for a season with a friend.

thanks for the reply. i LOVE the 218 sailfish but cant afford even a used one. this boat works out to be 18k. but if your use to a sailfish ride wich is great then that says alot.
thanks again Joe

I understand that the molds are gone. Get one while you can.

I had one before I moved up to my current boat. I had no problems with it and it held it'd resale value. the only reason why I sold it, was because my four kids grew up and I needed a bigger boat. good luck.

Supposedly copies of the old Seacraft 20'. Should ride well. Fit and finish is pretty shabby.

Be careful when comparing models. They copied differenct hulls. I have an 18 Whitecap which is a copy of the 18 Seacraft. I think the 21 foot is also a Seacraft copy. Mine is 7 years old and been road hard and put away wet. I live in South Florida and it stays on a lift. Have over 1500 hrs on it - mostly teen age children. Go look at the transom of a Seacraft if that is what you are looking for - they have a pretty distictive step up design. If the Palm Beach looks the same - you probably have the copy. Mine is not high quality in the sense of workmanship - but more utilitarian. Mine does not have an inner liner and the floor is glassed to the sides which I think give added strength. Make sure you ride in the boat that you buy and check the hull for lean and warp.
