Just a question, I'm running triple 2007 250 Etes's on a 36' Intrepid and it seems to me that my oil usage is almost the same as my previous 250 Evinrudes. 1 gal of oil for every 50 gal fuel. I have checked with my dealer and he stated that he did program the engines for XD 100 which is what I use. I went with the XD 100 oil set up as I herd that my oil usage would be 50 % less then with the XD 50. 70% of my hours are at cruise speed and I'm wondering if the 50% savings on oil with XD 100 is only at low speed. Other then that, my E-Tec's are great the only problem I had was with faulty low oil sensors but that was fixed with a MAP up date. Does any one have any thoughts on the oil usage?
Just a thought...I noticed, even with much smaller motor, there is a big difference in consumption at different rpm levels. If I do a lot of trolling and run to areas at 3400 my consumption is very little vs. running high rpm most of the time.
Do you run at high end of rpm range mostly? I'd still question the dealer and/or brp about it.
Just so everyone is on the same page, XD100 means 100% synthetic, not 100:1 mix ratio. What BobT says is what I see also on my E-Tecs. If I run 3800-4000rpms and bump troll on a full day of fishing, I get 120:1. If I run around at 4500 rpms all day on a boos cruise or checking shrimp boats for Ling, it drops to 80:1.

With XD-50 programming, it should do about 50-55:1. With XD-100 programming, about 80-85:1. YMMV if you run WOT all the time. If new, your motors may still be in double oiling mode. I've read reports of motors getting stuck in double oiling mode, but I can't help you with how to diagnose that.
BTW XD-100 does not mean 100% synthetic any more than the old XD-25 oil means 25% synthetic. It's a meaningless number that has no relation to anything. However, it does have the effect of misleading customers.

This happened to a friend of mine, his engine became stuck in the double oil mode that the engine initially runs in, engine is still in the shop so no report on the outcome. How many hours are on your engines?
Thanks for your input, I mostly cruise between 3500 and 4000 RPM's I did ask the dealer and he said he checked the profiles of the engines BUT he does not see any info showing the oil setting.
Since I see this on all three engines, I can only assume that this will be more normal usage as I have 60 Hrs on them and I'm out of the double usage stage.
I run to the canyons and troll all day (about 180 nm round trip) burn about 110 gallons gas and 2 gallons xd-100. Of course, I'm sure that gas and oil usage varies from hull to hull, too.
