 Atlantic City Boat Show
Spent the day yesterday at the Atlantic City Boat Show. First time I attended the Fall show and it was much smaller than I expected, both with the amount of boats and accessory vendors. A couple of things stood out to me. The price of outboard boats seems to have gone up 10 times more than the price of inboard boats? I am well aware of the advances in outboard technologies but there are too many 25-27 foot outboard boats over a hundred grand! A couple of boats stood out to me. Keep in mind that I am an offshore guy with a love for boats that I currently can't afford. Ocean introduced a unique new boat this week. It is a 37 foot fly-bridge / day boat. Very different. Looks very "Carolina" from the side view. Tons of room on the fly bridge and in the lower helm as well..........South Jersey Yacht Sales has the boat........Stop by and talk with Brian, he is a great guy to chat with. The Judge 42 also stood out. Mr Judge was there as well. Their woodwork was beautiful and the boat felt "big".........Viking only had 1 sport fish boat there and it was hands down my wife's favorite. Their attention to detail is awesome.......Integrity marine picked up the Tiara line. The Tiaras are not the "fishy" boats they once were, but again you can see the ladies liking the cabin. Comstock in Brick NJ dropped the Rampage line which surprised me. I spent some time at a roulette table with one of their salesmen and he told me flat out that there were too many warrantee issues, and Rampage wasn't living up to their value??? Interesting............The Henriques guys told me business was very slow. They are in the process of re-introducing their 50 footer which should be out next year. The 32 Topaz was very nice but seemed pricey at a half a mil???? Chaos was the only booth selling tackle and there was one electronics booth? Trump is in the middle of remodeling much of the casino property and it looks like he will be trying to compete with the others who recently spruced things up. We had dinner at a restaurant called Harbor View inside the casino and our meal was excellent. They had a band at the outside bar and they were pretty good as well. All in all it was a nice couple of days off from work and the weather was beautiful. Sorry about no pictures, I hate carrying a camera around all day..............
