Default My new rig

As promised, here are a few pics of my new rig. Hopefully I'll be able to get my electronics installed and my motor broken in, so I can do some fishing before it starts to snow here in New Jersey.

Just so you guys don't think I'm the insensitive neighbor type...I brought the boat home just for this week, in order to work on the electronics. On Saturday she is off to the marina for storage.

The marina?

It looks just fine in your driveway!

( Just a little hard to park your car though )

GREAT LOOKIN' BOAT!!! AND RIG!!!

I've seen a couple of new Aquasports (CC's) on the water with that SAME color - VERY NICE! PLUS the Yama! Around here, I think most of them come with Merc's?

Nice looking hull design, too!

I don't think I'd be able to "part" with "her" (taking it to the marina!) so soon - I'd have to keep it in the driveway at least another week or so JUST to go out and touch it every day!

Enjoy - know you must be VERY excited!

Regards,
Bruce W

Too nice a ride to abandon her at the marina! Put in a canopy on the side of your hose and keep her close! For the price of marina storage, you can get a canopy in no time! I put a pic of mine in the photo's page...

I can't imagine leaving her at a marina after just one week...I think maybe I'd be hard pressed not to sleep on her a week or so at the marina!!.

Some time back, AMR, there was a post on here from a feller who had a winchpost failure, on a new trailer that looked not a lot unlike yours.

You might want to search for that thread IMHO.

Most of the consensus of opinions from memory was that the diagonal brace for the winchpost was too short..and thats what caught my eye with your new trailer.

I guess if yours is going to be a marina boat it may not matter, but just in case - it can't hurt for you to be aware of the possibility - and what / where to look for any early signs of metal fatigue on your wnchpost.

Not trying to knock your new purchase at all - it all looks real sweet - just wouldn't want to see you with a "potential" trailer problem AFTER the warrantys run out on it if you follow me....hence the word to the wise straight up now.

Best a luck with it - I think i'd want a bow chain support down & back to the drawbar (if it doesnt have one already) to stop any chance of the boat running over (breaking) the winchpost in an emergency stop / collision situation, that short brace really is a possible future problem IMHO.

Still like the look of the whole rig a lot otherwise.

Edit, found a photo of which I speak

Heres a link to the particular thread, it's in archive number 5

Archive trailer thread HERE!

Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up Trouty. I do think the winch post on my trailer is a bit longer than on the trailer that had the failure, but the design does look very similar.

As far as keeping her at my house...I would love nothing more than to be able to do so, but...I really don't have the room. The houses in my neck of the woods are pretty much 50*100 lots that aren't spaced all that far apart. If I could keep the boat on my property without: 1. major difficulty moving the boat or 2. inconveniencing my neighbors, then I would. My 17' cc that I traded in was kept in my back yard, but that was a lot smaller, easy to move when I wanted to go fishing (usually early in the Am or late in the pm) and didn't dominate my property. My new rig is just too big. So I guess I'm stuck with keeping her at the marina until I buy a bigger house.

By the way, the marina charges $400 for the season on a trailer, with electric and water use. Also, the dealer I bought the boat from has a deal that will store the boat for the winter for free if you pay them for winterization and shrink-wrap. Not bad deals.

I would definately leave in the drive way for a week or so before taking to marina. Knowing me I would probably sleep in it over the weekend ( whether it was in the water or in the drive way:)
