Default Let's see your Center Console enclosure canvas

I'm buying a 21' Polar CC. I've never had a CC before. I fish northern Lake Michigan spring summer and fall. It will be cold, I'll need weather protection. My boat has the t top (canvas). I have not taken delivery yet, we're waiting on the outboard to be shipped. Polar apparently makes some sort of enclosure for the t top, they call it 3 sided. There's a teeny tiny picture in the brochure, I can't really tell much from it. I'm trying to decide whether to order the Polar canvas (dealer's trying to get me some pics of one, he's never sold the 3s enc.) or go custom. If I go custom, I'll need some ideas, so I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks for any and all help!

P.S. If you can post approximate costs of what you have, that could help me decide as well.

Can't wait to take delivery of this baby!

I've got a 3 sided T-Top canvas that encloses my center console and I also have two additional pieces of canvas zipped on that are what I call "bat wings". They extend over from the console to the gunwale on each side. I'm in Cape Cod, as use them only in the spring and fall when it's chilly. They're very effective keeping the spray & cold off, but do add windage and reduced fuel efficiency.

The five piece for my Contender including a lifevest bag was a little over $1300.00. Make sure you do a drawing this way you will get exactly what You want. Mine wrap around the outside of the pipe work and is much drier than a set I had on another boat which was inside the pipe work. Two things I would have done different would be zippered pockets on the inside of side curtians and cut outs for hand holds on the backside of the side curtians. Now I have to un-snap the center snap for a hand hold. I might have these two things done this winter..........Mark

These are the drawings I did for the curtians I had made. They did exactly what I wanted.

The curtians are made out of Weblon it does not stain, water tight and very easy to clean.

Heres how they looked finished.

Offshore 3144 That is the best layout for the enclosure that I have seen on THT. Thanks.

I have the 3 piece plus wings; that's what the canvas shop recommended. I am not satisfied with them. Too many leaks in cold weather. They might work well on Mark's Contender, but notice in the picture his T-top poles attach to the console, not the floor, which allows the canvas to fit much tighter on his boat than if the poles go to the floor like on my boat and many others. Trying to make canvas work around floor mounted T-top poles just does not come out well, and attaching the canvas to the poles themselves ensures you will have leaks in the gap between the poles and the console; I know that from experience.

The configuration I think is best has a panel that goes all the way across the front of the T-top and over to the gunwales. Side pieces extend back, attaching to the t-top and the gunwale. This type of enclosure allows you to access your console door without having to unhook the wings. There is a zipper in the front panel so you can go forward. I have seen this type of enclosure on a Regulator and a Sailfish 2360. This type is what I would get if doing it again.

Pretty much the same as offshore's except we added another panel to go all the way to the end of the T-top.

mine is a 5 piece as you can see from the pic. i dont like the batwing thing because if you need to get to the bow in a hurry to throw the hook or work a fish it seems like it would be a pain in the ass. i fish pretty much year round up here and also shoot sea ducks out of this boat so i really need some shelter from the cold. my enclosure was done by harding canvas here in southeastern mass with eisenglass and gore tex thread. the gore tex thread has a lifetime warranty against uv damage. i paid right around $1500 for the whole job. good luck
