Best place to advertise large protected slip with small house in FL for rent?
It looks like I'll need to find a new year-round tenant to occupy my property just off the intracoastal waterway with immediate access to the Gulf. Where would be a good place to reach affluent boaters looking for a more private alternative to the large marinas on the gulf coast of Florida?
Re: Best place to advertise large protected slip with small house in FL for rent?
I have seen and considered vrbo.com. They seem to be primarily focused on short term or seasonal vacation rentals. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Thanks for the recommendation SurferGirl. I just now gave that a shot.
Onewolf, I'm not sure why you find my inquiry offensive. This is a boating community, and I'm not selling my house. For the first time in many years I will have to make my property available to a new tenant due to circumstances beyond my control, and I reached out for help here. I apologize if this is somehow "bad form" in using this forum. FYI, This is the only boating forum I have posed this question to. Per SurferGirl's input, posts such as the one I just added to the Trading Dock seem to be encouraged, but maybe I'm missing something. FYI also, that is a funny emoticon you used there. Just wish it wasn't me you directed it towards.

for a full-time rental like that...i'd be sure to hit all the local resources, newspapers, etc with a typical classified ad. maybe a flyer or something on a pegboard at the local marinas.
we use vrbo alot, but like you said they are usually very short-term stuff.

jdm, there is a free magazine handed out at Boater's World and maybe West Marine in that area which shows several properties such as yours. I kept my boat in a marina in Palmetto and saw these magazines in Bradenton.
They are free for the taking in these retail stores, but I don't know what it could cost to advertise in them. You may want to check with local boat dealers who may let you place an ad on a bulletin board as it could only serve as a sales tool for them. I doubt many marinas would be interested in helping as they would view you as competition.
Good luck. Too bad we didn't run across each other about this time last year.

The magazine is Florida Mariner. There is also a Gulf Coast Mariner--thinner, and slanted more toward Panhandle, AL, MS and LA. There is also an Gulf Coast ICW which runs from Carabelle Fl. to Brownsville TX--this is over 900 miles in lenght, runs more commercial traffic than the Atlantic Coast ICW.
Soundings is also a good place to advertise. Another, is the Wall Street Journal if it is a high end property.

Hey. JDM, if you find the rental market to be slow where your house is, consider a seasonal rental. You can either stock it with used furniture, or rent furniture. You may find it much easier to rent for the season, and get much higher rent for it. You can then convert to annual after the season is over. Worked for us a little further south of you.
