Default Does anyone have performance numbers for a Suzuki 300 on a boat rated for 300 horsepower?

I hav an aquasport 225 osprey 24 feet loa, 4600 lbs loaded ,19 degree deadrise, that is rated 300 hp.
I think almost anything else rated 300 hp. would tell me what to expect from a 300 Suzuki + or - 10% .
I cannot find anything like the Yamaha test site for this engine.
Anyone out there with numbers (Fuel economy ,Top speed etc ?)
My guess is that it will be a beast !

50+mph at WOT on my friend's Bluewater 2350 with a light load (2 people and 1/2 tank of fuel) and 19" pitch X 16" diameter prop. Zero to plane in a nanosecond!

Sorry. 49 mph... although that surprises me because my 200 ox 66 will do 42 mph. GPS @ 4900 to 5100 rpm.

Everglades 240--weighs 5400# dry, no engine. 42 mph max at up to 6300 rpm depending on prop. Problem is more boat than engine, IMHO.

Going to repower with 2- 175s.

us 42449, This does not seem like a worthwhile $20 K investment for limited improvement. My 200 ox 66 seems good when I see that. I will probably wait. In 2 years the old un will still run (probably like a peach..its a Yam,... ), and maybe I can upgrade the boat and motor(s) for the spread.
BTW, maybe I am swayed by the performance and catch last week (33, 29, 27 and 25 lb. chinooks and a 14 lb. sockeye and a boatload of pinks in one day last week.) Aquasport rode like a peach too. Lotsa lower tab and go.
Mileage be dammed... 35 mph @ 4300 aint too bad.

I have a DF300 on a 26' NorthRiver Seahawk OS. It's an aluminum boat with 20 degree deadrise that is about 5100# dry w/o motor. I figure it's pushing 8000 lbs loaded with familiy and gear. I am seeing 43mph at wot. Note I am slightly over proped right now. The builder set it up with a 18.5" pitch prop, and i am only seeing 5500 rpm at wot. I am going to try a 17" if it ever comes in (its been back ordered for about 2 months).

I have a DF300 with about 12 hours on it now and so far love it. About to take it on vacation and put another 20+ hours on it fishing. Pushing a 24'6" boat; about 3500 pounds; 90 gal fuel; 20 gal fresh water; gear; 16 x 20" Suzuki Prop; 4 people and I measured the following on my GPS: 1000 rpm = 7 mph; 3000 rpm = 19 mph; 3500 rpm = 29 mph; 4000 rpm = 34 mph; 4500 rpm = 39 mph; 5000 rpm = 48 mph; 5700 (wot) rpm = 51.5 mph. I could not measure fuel flow because I was having problems with the NEMA 2000 Suzuki (Lowrance) system (see THT Thread: "Suzuki DF300 Fuel Computer Problem". However, from everything I have seen so far, fuel consumption for an engine of this size is outstanding. At idle, it is so quiet I cant hear it running. It seems to be very strong and with a full load will get the boat on plane so fast you really do have to hang on. So far, very pleased with it.

Meant to also mention that I was a little surprised that I only got 5700 rpm at wot with my boat and the 16" x 20" prop. Discussed this with my dealer and he stated that he has been discussing this with other dealers and the consensus is that after about 100 - 200 hours and the engine is broke in good, you will gain about 150 - 200 rpm. If this is true, then that will put me right where I would like to be and I will probably top out around 53 - 54 mph. He also stated that a lot of the guys that set up with the 18.5" pitch prop have now gone back to the 20" pitch props. Any DF300 owners out there with a couple hundred hours? Would love to hear your comments on how much rpm you gained after that many hours, if any at all. Im told that these engines are built "tighter" than most.
