dpdash, Very nice Intrepid 284. I had a 1995 but sold it a year ago. Great ride!! Here's an older shot from a helicopter before I added outriggers and rocket launchers.
I will there the first opening day Thurs. and Friday then off to Walker's Cay on Saturday for 5 days in the sun and to do the shark dive...WoooHoooo!
I will be the guy slobbering over the CC boats and hitting on the gorgeous model type chicks. (with minimum success I assure you). I may go test drive a hydrasports if I get the chance. I have already figured out I should have allotted more time to spend at the show. I don't think two days is going to be enough see everything I want to see. Looking forward to the big show. I am staying at the airport in Ft.Lauderdale. Any info on getting from there to the boat show would be greatly appreciated. Us po' East Texas boys ain't used to the big city......TBG
The more you know about boats, the less they will cost you.
I'll be there. I have no excuse, it's in my back yard.
Marti, Hope you'll have a great time in our fair city. Great time of year to visit. Spend some time down on South Beach. Go to Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant (go for lunch, the wait is shorter). Get a car and go for the day to the Keys or Flamingo. Have a great trip.
I'll be attending off and on with clients but will spend most of my time at the Brokers Show on Collins Blvd. Just what I need, another boat show, if not mistaken, this makes about , ummmmmmmmmm, oh hell, after 30 years in the business, and anywhere from 3 to 12 per year,I lost count.

grunthunter, thanks, I be in Miami just for the boatshow friday and saturday then off to marathon sunday for some fun/fishing after that, I have a little(LOL) visit in Texas for a day or 10
Were do I find the Crab restaurant and can I make reservations?
thanks
Marti,
Joe's Crab House is at the South end of South Beach. I recommend working with Taxi Cabs, leave the rental car parked. Reservation can be made but still expect a long wait unless you want to grease the Host(ess) hand with large dollars (these people make BIG money). Also, if your whole crew is not there when they call your name, they will not seat you and you go to the back of the list. Oh yea, bring your life savings but thier Jumbo's are to die for.

Joe's is an institution. Located at the south end of Miami Beach. The address is 11 Washington Avenue. It's just blocks south of the boat show (Miami Beach Convention Center).
They don't take reservations. Stories about waiting 2-3 hours, tipping the tuxedoed maitre d' a 100 bucks are well known. I strongly suggest you skip breakfast, go right when they open at 11:30 AM, you'll walk right in. Order stone crabs, everything on the menu is good but you must not miss the stone crabs. Eat like a pig, have a piece of key lime pie and coffee. When you walk out, you'll be amazed at the crowd already waiting.
I just called Joe's to check. Officially, they don't take reservations. You give your name (and donation) to the man in the tux when you arrive. Then you wait. I am sure some can make reservations, but it helps to be a celebrity. By going for lunch, early, I have never waited and I have never had to shtupp the maitre d'.
I'll be there Monday afternoon and Tuesday. My first time. Any suggestions. I will try Joe's. I am a little overwhelmed given the size of the show. I would like to check out 30-40 ft center consoles and electronics.
Kirk,
Most large center consoles will be located either in the convention center or outside the convention center. You may find a few at the Marina at Sealine or at the Brokers show.

reel_time: While the show is open until 8pm on Monday, it closes at 6pm on Tuesday and many of the exhibitors start to break down around noon on Tuesday, so if you plan on being there all day Tuesday, be sure you get to the people you want to see in the AM.

A friend from work that lives in miami is cuban that's going with us, so it's the only chance he gets to see the white she devils. And my son is turning 15 this weekend.
Needless to say they both will be more than satisfied. LOL
Add one more, of course, since I live in Miami, it is a no brainer. Don't forget to check out the booths upstairs. If you bring the Mrs. you will find plenty of artwork and stuff which will make her happy too.
