Default Electric winch for trailer

Hey guys, I trailer my boat on a regular basis and often alone it's a 24' and I was thinking of an electric winch, people have good luck with these, are they worth the money? Any particular brand to look into or stay away from?

Those with steel cables are a pain as the cables are hard to unreel . . . I prefer those with the wide belts . . . my preference

The steel cables also fray and then you cut your hands . . . that sucks

I HAVE HAD A POWERWINCH ON MY COX TRAILER FOR 12 YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. REPLACED THE CABLE ONE TIME. I PULL A 20 FT PROLINE ONTO THE TRAILER WITHOUT PUTTING BEARINGS INTO WATER.

Powerwinch seems to be the most popular. I have had one for about 12-13 years. Burnt the motor up within the first year, sent back to the company and they rebuilt it for me. The shop foreman called me on phone asking what I did to burn it up, told him pulling straight line with my 23WA Seacraft, he then told me that it came with a snatch block and hook and that I should be using it for longivity. Still using the same winch today. The snatch block is slower but did the trick for me. I, too boat a lot by myself and even when not, perfer to load my own boat.
I would probably buy another power winch, the biggest one they make, the extra $100 is well worth it. Keep the steel cable oiled with WD40 or the likes and you will not have any problems.

I looked at a couple of winches today, Superwinch was the brand I am thinking that the 7500# winch will do me right, my boat weighs in at roughly 4600# empty so I am thinking I will be OK. The next winch up is 11000# the 7500# is around $ 400.00 at Boat US and Cabela's is right around the same money minus the shipping. Seem like enough winch and a good price??

Take a look at this Warn winch. (NEW) http://www.warn.com/works/dcwinches/DC4700.shtml I'll be putting one on in the Spring. I have had three Powerwinches in the past (one was repaired at factory) and all I ever did was wait for the clutch to go. My experience.
