Default Lowrance vs Furuno

hello all,I have a Furuno 1650 GPS/fishfinder.The conture lines on the GPS are very bright (red, blue, yellow) and in the way.I have a Lowrance unit with a 5" sceen in monochrome and 320 pixels in my other boat.I've looked at the Lowrance with the 5" coolor sceens and 480 pixels and also the 7" color screens with 680 x 480 pixels. The conture lines on the Lowrance unit are nice and soft and the fishfinder is very detailed like the old paper grafs.I talked to an "expert" at a company that makes transducers for Lowrance and Furuno about switch my Furuno for a Lowrance unit and he couldn"t undsestand why I would ever want to switch from a Furuno to a Lowrance unit.Am I missing somthing hear? Also can any one recomend another unit that has a fishfinder with the detail that the Lowrance has? Thanks for any replies.Brian

I would buy what I liked, if you like the Lowrance buy it, one recent improvement is a brighter display. It would be
nice to be able to make an A/B comparision before purchasing. It is your money make sure you are happy with it.
