That's a sweet boat ... this may sound trivial, but if the trollin' motor were on the other side, you wouldn't have to deploy it to get into that forward locker...

Have you been on an Egret 16 with the trolling motor mounted where the one in the above picture is mounted? Where did you get the idea that you have to "deploy" the "trollin" motor in order to gain access to the forward locker?
Such a clean looking and well built machine!!!! If I were doing the flats thing that would be one of my top choices. Egret is quality. Did you happen to see any of the inboard 29's there?
Great Choice good luck with her!
I'm headed to the factory a week from today............so I haven't seen any of the 29's (or even my boat) yet. I'll be curious to see if the hatch opens with the trolling motor in place. I'm betting that the motor shaft falls between the platform and the hatch, and that the hatch has a stainless hold opener thingy's.... (the Egret boys seem to know what they are doing!!!)
truepursuit - 8/5/2007 Looks to me like you have to deploy the trolling motor too. Or remove that forward platform to open the locker. One or the other.
Well, like "reelapeelin" above, you shouldn't believe everything you "think" you see. The hatch opens just fine the way it appears in the picture.
that's a premium ride! I always send first time flats boat buyers to look at an Egret. "you can't afford it but it's nice to know how a boat should be rigged and finished out"... That skiff is worth a mortgage.... I've poled a few for customers and it poles as nicely as it runs.
