Default Ideas please

I was wondering if you guys (and gals) could give me some ideas for a 20-22 ft center console that could be used effectively as a family boat as well as a fishing boat. I am not completely sold on dual consoles so I would like to know my options. I will be buying new and my price range is 35k - 40k. I would like a decent size motor (200-250), motor brand not too important but I am leaning toward E-Tec and Suzuki. I am looking for something that could be used as a fishing boat on Saturday and a family boat on Sunday, specifically interested in a head and ample seating and a large fuel tank for long days on the water.

A skiff, I paid $8200 for mine new, 21ft Souther Skimmer, 70hp four stroke Suzuki. Its a great all around boat, fish the shallows, then run offshore to troll, after that take the family to the beach where you have a nice sundeck and room for everyone. The ride is a little bumper than v bottom boats but very very dry. Mako make a nice center console and they are very affordible boat. Cuddy cabin might be the way for you, having a family, the kids can take naps and you have a place to store your thing or yourself out of the weather. There is a lot of boat companys out there that have nice rigs in your price range.

I am afraid the skiff isn't going to meet those requirements.

I have 50gal of fuel and seating for 6 and hold up to 14. I have a 300mile range with a full tank and cruise at 22knts. Its not the fastest boat, but you get there and it dosn't cost you too much on gas. I was just sugesting to give skiffs a look.

You could get a new KW 225 for less than $40,000.

we looked hard at the key west 225 but went with a pioneer 197. dont let the 197 fool you, it had the room that the 225 had. the pioneer 220 baysport is pretty sweet too.
