Default 330 grady white express repower

I have an 01 330 express with ox66 250 yamaha's . The boat has been for sale for awhile with no intrest everyone wants FS power. With the 250's the boat runs 30mph at 4400 rpm getting 1mpg. I am really not sold on the FS's I was thinking of the 300 hpdi's. I really don't have any knowledge on these motors. The boat weighs about 15k loaded . Not looking for a fight just some honest opinions on what power some of you would chose. I have just about decided to keep the boat and either run the 250's that are on the boat till they die, or sell them and repower the boat and keep for a few more years. Thanks for any input

get some 350s then the boat will really move. I personally wouldn't consider 300 hpdi's but that is just me. You will not see much improvement in performance with the 300 over the F250s anyway.

The answer is fairly simple, if you want to sell the boat, the 4 strokes are the only choice. If you plan on keeping it, buy what you want. Remember that in a few years, 99% of comparable boats will have 4 strokes and you'll be in the same place trying to sell then.

Absolutely do not put 300 HPDIs on it unless you plan to keep it for a long time. Fairly or unfairly the 300 HPDI has a horrible reputation and will definitely hurt the resale value compared to putting new 4S engines on. I would wait until late fall and put a pair of F250s (or F350s) and get the 6 year extended warranty deal Yamaha will be offering towards the end of the year.

I repowered our Pursuit from 0x66 250s to F250s last year and it's a great improvement (no smoke, no smell, smooth, quiet, better economy, and under warranty until 02/12).

I love my Grady and its four strokes. If I were re-powering today I would consider the HPDIs only if I were planning on keeping it. I think the bugs have been worked out and if I sold it 5 years down the road the HPDIs will be IMO more acceptable at that point. They are somewhat cheaper than a FS and might give a little better performance. Right now and for the immediate future I think they are still a liability in the used market. If I were looking to sell in a year or two I would be buying the F250s. I do not think the F350s are a real option for you - I beleive the boat is rated for 600hp and have heard, as I'm sure you have that Grady is changing their layup schedules to accomodate the heavier motors.

If the 250's aren't giving you any problems, I would run them till they die..., I prefer 2 stroke power, especially on a boat like that....that being said, I also understand why people like the 4 strokes..., on an 01 hull, the 2 stroke will have a lighter power to weight, and the 01 grady's and older were designed with 2 strokes in mind....not the heavier 4 strokes...., I don't think the 300's are going to give you alot more speed, especially not 4 strokes...., run em til they die...maybe then there will be more options available to you....300 etecs maybe....., or a new yammie on the market by then...
