Default Edgewater 265 center console

Would love to hear some opinions on this boat from owners past and present. How is the ride? Is it family friendly? Seems like a great layout. Thank you in advance.

We just looked at buying one. I am 5'6" and could not see over the console standing or sitting. The bars on the forward seat are a knee breaker. The boat gets really small when you start adding gear espc. beanbags. Love the tackle station, lockable rod holders and hide away cooler.

We do a fair amont of trolling and we found the 26 Southport with its rear facing seat was a better choice for us.....

I do not own one, but family member does, and I have spent numerous hours on her.

Do not know why you would want bean bags on that boat. The boat has tons of seating forward, large leaning post that easily fits 2. and most modles have (or can add) an aft bench for seating. Head area is huge. Very family freindly boat for a center console.

It does ride a bit bow high, but proper trim should take care of that.
9'6" beam give a pretty big foot print to walk around form. Decent storage.Wish it had fish boxes in the floor

Boat max speed is about 55mph. Seems to have a sweet spot at mid 30's. (he runs 2x225 4s Yamahas.) Not sure about fuel burn numbers, but comprobable to other boats in that class.

Ride quality is such a subjective thing. Only thing you can do is take one out and see if you like the ride.

No major problems in the 4 yrs they've had the boat. He'd recommend it, and would probably buy another one.

IMO, the new EW268cc is even a better layout for family and fishing.

80 miles out in the slop and faced with a 4 hour ride in you will want to be in back on a bean bag.....

GREAT BOAT AWESOME RIDE. IT HAS NO INDECK FISH BOXES BUT THE FORWARD COMPARTMENTS WILL DO JUST FINE. BEAN BAGS ARE ONLY NEEDED BY ECCENTRIC FORMER HIPPIES WHOSE MINDS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY PURPLE HAZE.

Thank you for the replys. Knotty, I Really like the Southport too but the price difference, even on the used ones is 30-40k. Is Southport that much more of a boat?

A big part of the decision comes down to how you use your boat. We go out for swords and tuna, after using bean bags on the ride out and back they are a must for us. There is something to be said for comfort and sleep. Anyhow, the boat gets small when you start adding gear. I also did not like the glass screen, you can not see at night as well as you can without it. I really like the Everglades but it was just not for us. As far as the Southport, it has a clean bow so you can throw a cast net without tripping on a bow roller. The rear facing seat is great as you will spend more time watching your lines than rigging them. There is very little bow rise so my wife can drive without kneeling in the seat. Nice wide gunwales are another benefit.

I think they are both great boats you will just have to spend some time figuring out exactly what you need. I do know of a used 26 Southport with 30 hours for about 100K. I will PM you the link and his name.

The new 268 has fish boxes, both boats are great and on my short list in the distant future

No true fish boxes on a 265
Very good quality with Edgewater
Sold my 265 the first day that I saw the 28 Southport
P.S. 55 mph on a 265 - must be with no fuel, gear, or people
