Spyderco Atlantic Salt - RUST FREE!!?? - The Hull Truth

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this knife. They claim everything in the knife's construction is rust free.

I was taught that a knife is a tool and have always carried one since I was about 10yrs old. I hate going offshore with some of the nice benchmade's I have because they usually come back with a little rust spot here and there. I think if what they claim is true, this knife is going to be awesome!

Great knife, I have one on my belt at all times. I've done nothing to it, and it hasn't rusted. But that price is for suckers.

I'm saying that if anyone buys the knife at that price, they're a sucker. It can be easily had for $50-60 to the average Joe. If you get it for $45, even more of a bargain. I can't rave enough about how awesome this knife is.

I'm looking at the Benchmade Osbourne and also the 701 Mchenry/Williams. They are top quality knives that I can get for around 1/2 MSRP. I've had the mini-griptilian for about 4 years now and want to move up to something a little bigger.

If you like the mini's - check out the Syderco Cricket. Awesome, and you barely know it's in your pocket (not to mention it looks pretty wicked with the serrated edge). I also like it because you can disengage the lock and close it easily with one hand. If you want bigger, look at the Spyderco Caly 3. Very nice, but I always seem to carry the Cricket instead.

I also have the Atlantic Salt for the boat. No rust yet.

The reason I'm going with the Benchmade is for their Axis lock. I think it's one of the easiest to use and quickest locking mechanisms on a knife. You can flip it open almost like a switchblade with a small flick of the wrist and also close it just as fast as you opened it. I've had very good experiences with both Benchmade and Spyderco throughout the years, but I think I'd rather carry a Benchmade when I'm not on the water.

I've had my Spyderco Pacific Salt with yellow handle for about ten months now. I use it on my boat for cutting rope, fishing line and bait. The only maintenance so far is a good dunking in SALT WATER to clean the goo out after each use. I just fold it up and let it air dry in the center console storage box. The blade is easy to keep razor sharp with a Spyderco Sharpmaker and there is absolutely zero rust or corrosion anywhere on the knife. The only thing I don't like about it is the FRN handle. I would've gladly paid more for G-10 or Micarta.

I have 4 or 5 Spyderco knives at least. Always one on the boat and or ditch bag. Clean them regularly and leave a coat of Woody on them. They hold an edge very well and Spyderco will sharpen them free for life if you send (pay for shipping) them back to the factory.
The only reason I don't have one in my pocket now I'm carrying one of my Benchmade Axis folder Osborne models - pre-production model the Admiral got me.

I've been a Spyderco fan since 1990.

Great knives!

I even purchased the kitchen knife set for my wife. She almost cut her finger off with one while slicing potatoes. Six stitches to re-attach her finger tip.

Luckily, she didn't hold that against me (or the knives).

Well it's official....I'm going with the 701 Mchenry/Williams with a plain D2 blade. I went to the local Sportsman's Warehouse and held both the Osbourne and 701 Mchenry/Williams and the Osbourne just didn't seem to feel right in my hand. It was very light and didn't feel big enough. Plus, the blade was a little smaller than I would have liked.
