Cummings 6BTA , anyone know anything good or bad about these engines ? a friend is looking at a boat with twins Cummings 6BTA . Thanks ahead of time

One of the more reliable Diesels out there. What year are the Motors? What kind of boat? How many Hours? Single or Twins? HP rating? This will give a better insight for life expectancy.

Lots of good info on these engines there. My experience to this point is that they are reliable, fuel-efficient, and easy to work on. Parts are plentiful and cheap, compared to Volvo or Yanmar.

He is looking at a 2001 topaz 32 express with 800 hours , they are 370 hp motors from what he told me . He is also looking at 2001 and 2000 cabo 31's with cats, just trying to see what the differences where and the likes and or dis-likes of the Cummins Vrs. Cat. Thanks Guys

I had them in the 370 config - though I rarely pushed them 800 hours - loved 'em - completely trouble free then sold the boat. replaced a pair of Volvo Tamd70es with them probably the best move I ever made and sorry I did not do it sooner. It was like a brand new boat - performance was leaps and bounds better - and easy to service

Actually it's the same block as the Case tractors. Very common, well balanced engine.
