14' Tom Colvin. Tom is a boatbuilder in Mandeville, LA. It is built out of 99% cypress, save for the transom and bottom(marine plywood) and the stem (heart pine). The bottom is glassed up to the top of the bottom paint.
I refinished it and revised the layout for 2 pedestal seats. It'll do 23 mph with just me and a 15 hp 'rude. It's a great swamp boat. Will go in almost any skinny water.
Of all the boats I've owned, this one consistently gets more compliments than any other.
This above boat was built in 1990 for my late brother who fished the hell out of it for 10 years. He gave it to me when we built him a 18' version:
This one we built out of marine plywood with spanish cedar frames and a cypress console. It would touch 40 mph with me, the dog, and a 60 hp 'rude. A true fishing machine. Sadly, it was stolen during Katrina, and was never recovered.
