I have a 2001 GW 226 and run it on the Chesapeake Bay. Great boat. I have a Yam 200 HPDI on the back. Really fine in a head sea, ok in a following sea if you keep your speed down. I think that 200 hp is plenty for the boat. I started with a 17" pitch prop, which made the boat too fast, especially w/ a following sea. I changed to a 15" pitch prop (Yam SW Series) and like it much better. I lost a few mph off the top but don't really care about it. I like going slow anyway. I am actually thinking about having the thing machined over the winter to take a little more off of it (make it less agressive) so I can go even slower while maintaining engine rpms at the bottom of the power band for the motor (say 3800-4000 rpm). You will take some spray from time to time, especially if you are quartering the seas in a strong head wind but I don't have enough experience to know whether it takes more spray than other boats its size.
Good luck with your search...
