A friend and I have found a 32 Proline that is quite loaded and needs to be sold. Primo Raytheon electronics, twin mercs 250 Verados, etc... Now I have done a bit of reading around here and there is quite a division of opinions on Proline. I purchased a brand new 2000 295 Boston Whaler Conquest that I had nothing but problems with. I acutally went thru three hulls! The first one delaminating! Anyway, the boat look great, gonna sea trial it this week. Looking for anyone that owns one or had been on one and can give some first hand reviews.
a good chance the boat is propped wrong - pay particualr attention to the WOT RPM - usually this boat has 3 blade mirages and needs a smaller more powerful rev 4 blade. ....check also the batteries - at least 3 1000MCA starting batteries are needed on that boat....See a lot about verados at veradoclub.com
Are there other boats on your list? If it happens that it's slim pickins in your market, I would not arbitrarily rule out the Pro-Line. After all, if a professional survey gives this particular boat a clean bill of health ....
No not really as far as other boats on the list. Just seems like its alot of boat for the money. Fully loaded..low hrs on both the engines and the generator. I hear ya on the clean bill!
Gee, maybe you should buy a Seafox.
Now you laugh, but here's my point. EVERY BOAT, let me repeat that...EVERY BOAT manufacturer, just like EVERY CAR COMPANY, has a boat slip through the cracks, quality wise. If you like the boat, if the boat passes your survey, then buy the boat you like. Period. You can look up every boat manufacturer, ever car manufacturer, every brand of toothpaste, every single thing you buy anywhere in the world and find complaints about it on the internet.
Proline is another example of a price-point boat. If you expect a perfect fit and finish, then look elsewhere. That being said, there are plenty of old Prolines still floating and lots of satisfied customers.
Get it surveyed.....if it checks out and you want it, then buy it. Like someone said earlier, every manufacturer produces a lemon now and then.....it's how they handle it that determines what sort of company they are.
I have a 32 Express..Had it about a year 400 hrs.. Glen is right about the batteries. Actually I put 4 batteries in. - Cabellas (27's) for house and gen set, and 2 separate batteries (AGM) for Verados. I have ACR hooked up for charging. Otherwise if your anchored out and have refrig going etc, you will kill the battery.
I don't know about the props. I have the 15's - 3 blade Mirages. It is a fuel hog! I'm lucky if I get .8 mpg. Last weekend I went out in rough water, had all I could do to get .6 mpg. Was going to middlegrounds, had to cut trip short. I don't take chances. 1/3-1/3 -1/3 rule. I've tried everything except props. Mine are the 225 Verados not the 250s (early model) .Maybe Glenns idea will be the answer. I need to look into.
The boat itself is the perfect layout. It handles well and the wife loves the ammenities. It has been high maintenance for me. I can't really blame ProLine for all the problems. I have changed every pump on the boat, some twice! Had a problem with the baitwell, ProLine repaired (dealer) and replace all the panels in my aft bunk where it had stained and leaked.
It's not a GW but the price for what you get is not bad.
