Looking to travel by boat to Islamorada/Tavernier area tomorrow and stay over, then return Sunday. Any recommendations for good accomodations and a (32' CC) boat slip, especially in Islamorada would be appreciated. On the list now are the Chesapeake Resort, Mariners Club, but I'd like to be in the heart of Islamorada, near Lorelei and Wide World. Thanks
You are going to have a problem with the slip. The mariners club is beautiful and I would recommend it, but it is not in isla morada. It is mile marker 98. In isla morada check out the cheeca lodge.
With the forecasted winds for the weekend, you should be OK at Cheeca - I've done it a few times, bring a decent anchor and you have to anchor the stern (or bow) off the pier on the north side near the awning. motors up at low tide though on the way in.
I second Smugglers Cove, the pic in my sig was taken there over Memorial weekend. Pelecan Cove is also nice but their dock space is very limited, but a much nicer place than Smugglers.
It's a bit further SW but Hawks Cay is a nice location.
It is a little bit further (about 25 mi), but after having just spent 4 days there with some of the nicest people on Earth. I can't wait to go back. However, I heard that it has been sold and will be undergoing a transformation that will make it almost "untouchable" financially. That is saying a lot since 4 days/3 nights/ fishing bait and fuel for a round trip from Ft Lauderdale and one days offshore fishing cost me about $1600 (1 room and "back basin" dockage for 3 nights)

Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Hog Haven good food, good drinks GREAT prices... You lucky dog!
