I haven't purchased anything from them but I did price a 20 ft SeaArk for crabbing (ended up buying a Carolina Skiff) and they treated me right. I live in Lancaster and have not heard anything bad about their service. Good luck.
I purchased my current Fountain from them. I've bought a lot of boats in my life and I have NEVER been treated so well. Tom Jr. and his mom are beyond top drawer. Honest, caring, and fair. Service beyond compare. I would buy from them again in a second, in fact I probably will be buying from them again very soon.
I guess I'm the only one that has heard some not so good things.
I'll stay away from specifics but I would'nt expect the best service after the sale.
BTW,
they've only had Fountain for I believe 3 seasons and just picked up Contender this spring. The also carry Sea Hunt, Hurricance deck boats and some other small aluminum boats.
From personal experience, I wouldn't give them a dollar of my money again. I bought a Concept from them. To make a long story short I had to get the factory involved. I believe it was the last Concept they sold.
Now I'm on the fence....looking at a Sea Hunt, so I'm not sure that makes a difference. I suppose good manufacturers monitor dealer complaints and work to minimize them.
I don't know anything about their history, but I can tell you guys about my purchase.
I bought in 2004. They were nothing but professional. I live over 2 hours away and Tom Jr. drove to my house several times during and after the sale of his own accord to pick up, deliver, and service. I've seen them at several boat shows since and they always see me in a crowd and come to me before I see them. They sold my old boat at a fair price. They sold me the new boat at a fair price. Tom has bought me "several" beers (more than once) - always after the business is taken care of. I was nobody special, in fact I walked in off the street unannounced. When they didn't have an answer to a question (I was buying the very first 32' ever sold) they gave me a factory contact that did. They didn't try to 'fake it' and had no problem saying 'I have no idea'. The deal was very smooth with no 'surprises' that I am always reading about on THT. Bottom line, they were honest and fair. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. That doesn't mean something hasn't changed, businesses evolve, but based on my experience over the years Ducky's will be the first place I visit when I decide to order my next boat.
I own a business, and I know how difficult some customers can be. I always make a conscious effort to not be "that customer" and be understanding of circumstances beyond a businesses control ,BUT, at the same time I will stomp on a company that drops the ball or wont give me what I want if I'm willing to pay for it.
Take it for what it's worth.

You guys are making me a little less confident with these mixed reviews. I am looking to purchase a contender in the very near future. Im in N.Y., not exactly around the corner. You need to really trust a guy from this distance if you know what I mean. Thanks for the help.
