Help - tach stuck?

The tach on m 2003 Evinrude 250 hp goes up to 3500 and then stops - it is well before the throttle stops. This is a new problem this boating season. The engine has 100 hrs and otherwise runs perfect. I have flipped the switch in the back of the tach back and forth between 5 & 6 a couple of times to no avail. Any thoughts out there?

Just had the same thing happen a couple of days ago. This isn't a definitive answer but I cleaned and reset the electrical clips and it has worked fine since. Worth a try since it's free.
