Made a mistake and left 15 gallons of gas in my boat during the winter. Boat starts fine, but runs rough at higher rpms, bogs down, loses power etc. I have replaced the fuel/water seperator and the fuel filter. Should I:
1. Drain the old fuel and start over
2. Fill the tank and add stabilizer/injector cleaner
If option 2 what product do you recommend? 2004 Johnson 140 4-stroke.
drain tank if it is not to hard for you then you must install a inline 10 micron filter because the fuel last year had ethanol wich acts like a solvent and when it sat in your tank it cleaned all the crap off of it and now it will get clogged everywhere a 10 micron filter is what you need to catch the small particles....then you must hope it did not clog your carb or injecters.....your reguler filter will not catch the particles....also when you drain the tank see if there is any water in there you would be suprised what condensation can do or you can put a clear fuel filter in and when it starts to bog see what is coming from the tank at that time.....but with the new ethanol fuel a 10 micron filter is a must....

Add double recommended gas line antifreeze with an extra quart of Tc3 oil in gas, put in 10 gal of premium , go for a 4500 rpm cruise for 1 hour in a light chop (bounces/mixes gas). Change/drain fuel filter and she be good to go. If not Dunc decarb too. Run till she is almost empty at at least plane.
