Default Fuel economy with 130-150 hp 4 stroke and 22' boat

I'm wanting to upgrade to a 4 stroke. I think I want a 130-150 inline 4 cylinder 4 stroke Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki. My 22' C-Hawk is rated for 225 hp, but originally had a 130 Yamaha 2 stroke that was plenty of power for my needs. The Yammy died a horrible screeching death last year, I replaced with my old very thirsty 150 Johnson. I would like to have fuel mileage information and brand choices about your 4 stroke on a 22-23' boat. Also, any info about repairs/problems.

well with any of the above motors you will get about the same reply, that is, who has the best service close to you. all the 150s will be a power improvement but w/a bit more weight but perhaps not enugh to make a difference. all are good so who has the best price, dealer support is the deciding factor

I repowered a 175 hp 2S Zuke on my Cabo 216 a 21.5' WA with a Yamaha F150. I lost 5 mph at WOT and 3 miles at comfortable cruise speed. Now 39 MPG WOT and cruise at 28 mph which is just about right for my boat in our sea conditions. However my gas mileage improved dramatically from about 2 mpg to over 4 at cruise. That was three years ago and motor still has not burped. I run it hard at 4500-5000 rpm (32 mph) when conditions allow it. My boat is also rated at 225 hp but the last time i looked going fast does not improve your fishing skills.

I roughly estimate that I get around 5 mpg at cruise speed (30mph) in my 22 ft Sea Hunt 220 Escape with a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. WOT is 43 with 3 aboard.
