I currently own a GB 2240sx and am interested in the WC 230SF mainly bc I want something faster and with more fishing space. Can anyone chime in here who have been on both boats and give me their thoughts. Will the WC snap roll just as much as my GB while bottom fishing? Will the WC waddle from side to side as much as the GB does in a beam sea while cruising? I can fish 4 people comfortably on my GB, how many can fish off the WC? Thanks
If I was going that small and wanted to feel a diference I would test the Seacat 22, which is also about $20-25K cheaper than the WC and a faster planning hull.
But if I was spending WC23 kind of money then I would definately test the Prowler 24 and Prokat 23, which is really 26', and the TV26 with 150-175 suzies.
2'-4' makes a lot of interior difference on a short hull with 2 fore decks and a euro transom, and although the WC22.5 and Seacat are better hulls than the slow rolly polly GB22, the interior room is still pretty darn small for an $60-85K package, IMO.
More width is the only thing that is going to affect roll, and the PK is the widest for the small cats. Greatly improved over their 22 model.

They're both the same width, BS. Or were you simply saying the 23 is greatly improved over the 22 in other areas? I haven't seen the 23 in person but I do think that would be a true statement. Then again, find a nice one for the $24k I paid for my '01 22 PK and I'll buy it.

At 9'2" the PK's are 8" wider than the WC and SC. The 23PK is a great improvement over the PK22, IMO.
I had the GB 22 and it was a little too tender for me.. went up to the GB 26 ..got a used one
Diff erence is night and day ... But if you want more speed I would go Renissiance or WC,,
Dont argue Cats with Bull ...you will stand corrected ..
I think I would stick with WC. My slip neighbor has a 33TE and its simply awesome. I would only imagine the WC230 SF being the same just alot smaller. are the gunnels as high as the GB? How many people can fish off of it? Is maneuvering at the dock just as easy as my GB?

Just stay away from the 25 WC. Not a good design. Never been any impressed with ANY of the PK's. WC or old Sea Cats are the way to go. Prowler too makes a good boat. Look at Defiant and Calcutta too!!! Nice boats!!!

Exactly what I thought you were saying, and I agree. At first, I thought you were saying the 23PK was wider than the 22PK. I know that the PKs are BOTH wider than the WCs.
Something to keep in mind if you trailer though is the PKs will need overwidth permits.
The 246 is the 25 that Bolton is warning you about, although I have not heard that from others.
Crackerasscracker has a 246, so you might ask him. and like he says, the 266 used are around for $35-65K so you now have a pretty good short list of cats to try for yourself.
I have a 2006 Worldcat 230SF with Honda BF150s. It is a great boat, topping out at 43-46 mph depending on load. I get 2.2 - 2.7mpg according to the Honda fuel management system while cruising between 27 and 32 mph. The boat shares the same 8'6" beam and high gunnels as the 25 and 27 foot models. The layout difference from the 25 is that the 23 does not have the forward facing cooler seat in front of the console. From the console back, the layouts, in head consoles and equipment are the same.
I have been told that the 230SF is one of Worldcat's beat riding boats (behind the 33). I was also considering the Prowler 246 and test rode one of the Glacier Bays. My Worldcat rides higher at the bow than the Glacier Bay, eliminating the side to side twist in a beam or following sea. In a head sea, you can trim the engines down and obtain a displacement hull ride if desired.
I chose the Worldcat over the others because in 2006, Worldcat was offering a special promotion with Honda on the 230SF (BF150s and loaded with Hardtop and many optioons for the high $60s). Bullshipper and others on this forum were a great deal of help to me while deciding which boat to buy.
