How do you remove the minn kota prop???

I have a 80# thrust minn kota riptide with a 2 blade prop. The prop broke internaly or the pin broke. The blade spins freely with out the nut spinning.

I cant figure how how to get the blade off? I spin the center nut and nothing happens. It has a slot in the middle of the nut for a flat head, whats that for?

You probably broke the shear pin that holds the prop stationary on the shaft. If you do that holding the prop still to loosen the prop nut will not work. The slotted shaft you mention is for that very reason. Take a flat head screwdriver and put it in the slotted shaft to keep it from spinning. Then take a box end or open ended wrench (I think it is a 7/16 nut) and loosen it while holding the shaft from spinning. Once the nut is off pull the prop straight off the shaft. Go to walmart and get a new pin. If you broke the housing in the back of the prop that fits over the shear pin then you will need to just get a new prop that will come with the shear pin.
