The time for the electrical part of my 25 Bertram project.
While I'm not there yet the time is close.
Paint and glass is no problem. As far as the complete rewire go's I'm at a loss.
Brand, type, correct size for a given length ect.
Where can I find some good info.
Thanks

------------------------------------------ I have a lot of wisdom but, just forgot where I put it.
I just re-wired my Hydra Sport. (third re-wire - on three different boats. Hi my names Ken and I've got a problem). I got my wire at bestboatwire.com. A decent book on the subject is "The 12 Volt Bible" Remember when figuring wire sizes it's the round trip distance that matters. Length X 2. Really plan it out so you know where everything is going, pull your wire off the spool from one termination to the other, get it all fastened, THEN cut it. Grease every connection and shrink wrap. Tinned wire of course.
I ran my main feeds to the helm and installed two big buss bars and ran all the other stuff off of them, I wired my bilge pumps directly to the batts. B-mail me if you have any specific questions.

The bestboatwire.com has some good prices-the only question I have is I see they sell Pacer brand marine wire-any difference from Ancor in quality-I am planning on installing a new Blue Seas Fuse block in my cabin on my 24" Grady-the original wire is not large enough-want at least 25-30 amps at the 3% voltage drop
Use components from Blue Sea Systems (www.bluesea.com) and your wiring job will look pro. For what you get, their prices are actually suprisingly reasonable.
Got to say that best investments I made was heat gun and battery cable crimper (looks like a red handled cable cutter but crimps battery cable butt crimps of different sizes)
If you do this yourself be prepared to sweat and bleed. Yes, you are going to get scratched and cramped working around the unfinished insides of consoles, bildges and rigging tubes. If you are rerigging you will see why that crazy oldtimer in the boat yard insisted that the cable tie ends be CUT OFF FLUSH! Once you start you will see what I am talking about.
Solder, heat shrink tubing, dielectric grease are your friends. The battery cable crimps are nice, they have small punch type ones for battery cables you beat on with a hammer that work ok and are much cheaper. But, absolutely do get the ratcheting type crimpers for your smaller wires. The hardware store crimpers don't apply enough pressure and the jaws eventually break off after so many crimps. Solder every crimp connection. Coat the battery cable connections in dielectric grease prior to installing the crimp and heat shring tubing it afterwards.
