Shamrock. I have a diesel pilothouse. The keel setup works great for me and the construction of these boats is substantial.

Jim Smith-

I thought I read somewhere that Shamrock stopped production of their keel drive boats. Their website only refers to their SPII Hull design. Am I correct?

Kevins, you are right.

Jim, visit fishtheclassic.net for more Shamrock info than you can imagine...

Sprtpilot-

I fished on a 20 foot Shamrock for a number of years with a friend of mine. Rock solid and always felt like a bigger boat. I would imagine that anyone with a keel boat just got a "bump up" in their investment.

This dealer bought the last of the Shamrock keel boats: http://www.tidewaterboats.com/

Last time I was there he had a diesel Mac on the lot, but I don't see it on the web site anymore. He is also a good guy to deal with so a call might get you some leads on Shamrocks or other keel boats.

Pilot Cove 26'
General Marine 25' and 26'
Shamrock 26'
Tripp Angler 24'
Sisu 26'
BHM 28' (now the Seaworthy 28' if yer buying new)
Duffy 26'
Coastal 27'

Most of these will be in the 30" draft range. Some a little more, the Shamrock - specifically designed for the shallow waters of Florida Bay, a little less. None of them are speedsters, but most will cruise at between 20 and 25 mph with proper power.

Another quality offshore boat built locally here in Mass. is the Fortier 26; almost all used on the market are diesels and they are still making them.

Chris

I have a 27 6 Albin with 300 HP Yanmar diesel and a shark fin type keel with a keel plate below the prop. Boat normally draws 3 feet but I have not had any problem with 2 foot and an sandy bottom. put her in gear and the ass end comes up and goes right through the muck.

granted it is sand and not hard bottom.

I was very worried about some problem areas in the Barnegat bay, went aground and had no problem getting off.

the other day in the 40 Knot west blow I got out of my slip with less than 2 feet.

Nice thing about a single screw is that the keel can protect the prop.

27"6" Albin
