Random Quote: How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?
I've got a Parker 2510 DV with a 1999 Yam 250 turning a 17 pitch factory ss prop.
At WOT'5300 rpm's I get abot 32 kts
At 3800 rpm I get 20 kts (most efficient cruise)
At 4300 rpm I get 22-24 kts (If I want to get home quicker)
It also can plane at 3200 rpm's at aabout 12kts.
I'm considering replacing the 250 with a 225 4 stroke.
Does anybody have an idea on how my performance would change ? I', guessing I'd drop about 2kts at all ranges. Other than that I cant think of any "downside".
FWIW....I have the 2002 23'SC/DV with an F225 on a bracket. I also have the factory 17 prop. I carry a lot of "stuff" on the boat, it's heavy, and would not want a smaller motor. If it were the XL or MV ok....but I would be leary if the F225 would be enough for a DV 25. Just a thought...
I have a 225 four on my Edgewater and it is a great match for my boat, but IMO it isn't going to be enough for your boat, although I have seen that setup on the water.
Go to parkerboats.net and ask Robin if a single F225 is sufficient power for the 25 DV. Took a test ride on a 2520 MV with a single F225 and I'd consider the power mimimun. The DV requires more power.
I have a F200 on a Grady 20. I've been on a 25 Many times with a 225 Optimax--that is minimal power in my opinon. Also, been on a 25 Parker with F115s. It worked well, but slighltly underpowered.
The more you guys try to talk me out of it the better the idea sounds.....
Chunga.. 40 is moving !! I wouldn't be unhappy if my WOT went from 38 to 34 or if my cruise went from 22 to 20 or 20 to 18. Parkers are not speed boats. In 4ft seas I usually do about 17-18 kts.
I am really interested in how quiet the 225's are. With a hardtop, that 2 stroke 250 is loud. The fuel economy is another factor.
Robin says you can do it on a DV sport cabin but not a DV WA because it is 500 lbs heavyer. Heck 500 lbs is 70 gallons of fuel (I wont need !).
Also, I figure I can swap motors while my 1999 still has decent value. The other nice thing is that the controls and wiring harness from the 250 plug right into the 4cycl. 225.
