Size of gas tank size on a 1980 Aquasport 222 CC - any one know??

All - I have my eye on a 1980 222CC and have one concern. With a 225 on the back, I am a bit concerned that aquasport continued with its process of installing relatively small gas tanks on the 1980. I am thinking the tank is about 50 gal +/-, but not really sure. For standard Ches. Bay trips, not too bad, but If i get the opportunity, offshore runs become limited. I have contacted genmar, but they were no help (surprise). Can anyone lend a hand here? thanks in advance.

I have a 1986 222 Express Fisherman and my tank holds 85 gallons.I also thought mine held about 50 gallons until I found out the hard way[ran out of gas].

well as an owner of a older boat ..... find out the good way replace the tank before your in a world of hurt !!!!... If you can acess the tank ... get it out and checked over well!!!!!...John

I had an 1988 222 with 175 evinrude. Great boat, appx 80 gallons of fuel, definitely not 50. Your 225hp, will be more than aqequate.

I had a 1979 22' Family Fisherman & it had an 85 gallon tank. Marine Tanks of Florida made the Aquasport t anks.They are still in business,& can tell you the size if you give them the year & model boat.

There are 2 possible ways to tell.
1)Get the measurements of the tank and convert linear -> volume.
2)Look for an inspection port near the aft end of the tank and take a look - often times there is a capacity label there. My last 3 boats from different manufacturers have all had this.

Given teh age of teh boat, I woudln't trust and manuf. specs, since it may have been replaced.
