Default 115 Ficht No Oil Alarm and Light

A good friend has a 2002 115 Evinrude Ficht and intermittantly the no oil light will come on and it will drop to 1,000 rpm. When this happens if he shuts it off and restarts most of the time it will run normally, for at least a short time and perhaps the rest of the day. We have looked at what seems to be the obvious, the oil tank is full and the hoses look to be good, this is happening more frequently now and we will no longer use it for fear of engine damage. Thanks for any input ( other than junk the Ficht as it rus good when all is well)

What kind of oil is being used? Evinrude XD-50 or something else? What is the ambient temperature when this happens?

Most likely it is a weak oil lift pump as long as the hose, filter, and clamps are in good shape.

A tech with a laptop will have to extract the error codes to see if it is lack of oil pressure or an electrical problem with the injector.

To test the pump, a pressure guage has to be installed and the motor run at all speeds. Sometimes it is just a sticking pressure regulator or it could be a faulty sensor. An intermittent pressure sensor may have oil inside the electical connector at the motor harness.

had the exact same problem with my 115 Ficht, it turned out to be the sensor , easy as pie to replace, took a bit of finding though, I was lucky to have a pair of motors and swapped parts from one to the other. next most common part will be the oil pump as mentioned here before, also if the oil tank has not been cleaned out for a long time, they sometimes get crap on the bottom and it partially blocks the pickup.
