Default Suzuki DF140 throttle/shift cable problems

I need some advice as commen sence has failed me, I have a pair of DF140's and last year the port side cable became hard to engage at times. These are the first disign engines and last year I pulled the port side off to replace the bushings for about $8 worth of parts. Its starting to get stiff again! I have checked the cable for binding and the binnacle and it "seems" fine. I have been militant on lubeing both engine ,brackets etc after cleaning the boat, I have never had an issue with the starboard side so I am looking for a little help here.

On my earlier 115's, there is a pivot that gets bound up occasionally, it's below the front of the motor, follow the shift linkage and you will see it, (if so equipped), I used penetrating oil and lots of working back and forth....fine now, just hit it once in a while with more oil...hope this helps, Mick

You need to remove the clutch shaft holder under the powerhead and clean it and the pocket above it on the bottom of the engine holder. Then replace the bushing and seal, and grease it well. A factory service manual will show you all the proper steps, or have a dealer do it the right way. Xtreme cables will not fix this problem, and are unneeded on a DF140 unless you have 25' cables.

I have a DF90 that had the same problem. Dealer charged me $55.00. Cheap part plus $50.00 labor. I was happy.
