Hydraulic jack oil probably doesn't have the foaming resistance, high flash point, or corrosion prevention properties of aircraft grade oils.

I learned recently that automotive grade power steering fluid eats aluminum oxide. Really made the pitted top pipework shine after the minor mishap while I was bleeding the system.

And the oil-absorbant wipes are the perfect tool to wipe off old salty rust.

What your looking for is Mil 5606. Branded as Texaco HO15 etc. It is petroleum based red fluid of low viscosity, superior anti-foaming and lubricatin qualities.
