Default No Stringers???

Well, I got the majority of my liner out today and much to my concern, I don't have any stringers . Apparently the liner has short screws along the keel to secure the liner in place. I was planning on using the these non-existant sringers to aid in my new layout. What now? Looks like I have to start from scratch and I didn't want to really get THAT deep in my restoration. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That guy (john geviskas?) on TV tackled the same project, and used prefab stringers, check his site (can't think of it to save my life, he's also on the DIY channel, check DIYnet.com) maybe there's a link,I think I saw the product in the new West catalog, it's shaped foam encapsulated w/glass ready to tab in. Looked really easy to deal with compared to tabbing in plywood stringers. BTW spent a lot of time seabirds, best ride in 3-5 headseas ever! Alan.

Default No Stringers???

I checked out www.fgci.com for their core materials. The structural foam they sell for stringers if pretty darn expensive (around $82 for a 1 1/2"x2'x8' 4.5 lb density board). I would need around 15-18 of these boards for the bulkheads and stringers. Comes out to around $1500 without shipping and tax. There has to be something cheaper out there? I hope!!! Does anyone know of a cheaper supplier that can help me out? I would hate to have to use wood due to costs. Thanks!

I used NidaCore for the bulkheads and stringers in my Grady. It was easy to work with, very lightweight and suprisingly strong.

Try PRISMA prefabricated stringer systems. They have 2lb urethane floatation foam with dry glass attached in various stringer configurations. Fairly cheap stringer systems for small to midrange boats. Take a look at them on www.preforms.com. You might have to add some more glass to these stringers depending on your application.
