Fished in a 24 Blazer Bay, the one with the sprayed inside. I think they call it a 2400, a lot of boat. All the posts about the temperment of the lake are spot on. I, too, have feared for my life on the lake.

I have a 21' Cobia 214 with 20' deadrise and that is the minimum boat I would recommend in the lake. I can still run in 2's and even 3's at 40 mph. I only have a 200 hp yam but thats all this rig needs. I would rec 250+ or duals if your gonna go for a bigger boat. Theres no price on safety if your serious about fishing the lake. You need to be able to move quick. Good luck and happy hunting.

Concerning deadrise, according to Skeeter, their ZX22v and ZX24v have 20' deadrise. That is something that gets these boats criticized sometimes for not having a shallower draft, but they should be among the best riding of the bay boats.

Where did you get that info from?

I have seen the deadrise listed from 14 to 18 degrees for that hull?

I came close to buying a Blazer Bay 2400 until I found a Triton 240 LTS Pro for the same price.

2006 and older is 17 degrees. Thats what i have.
They increased the deadrise after that to 19 or 20.

It is on their website, and also in their saltwater brochure, that those models have a 20' deadrise hull. Also confirmed via personal conversation with Skeeter regional sales rep.

here is the url: http://www.skeeterboats.com/buying_g...er/engineered/

If you're not looking to get into water that is extremely skinny, how about a 20' seacraft. I saw this one for sale on another website. Just add the biggest/baddest trolling motor they make (I think the 101 lb. minkota riptide would do the trick) and you're ready to go. Worth a look.

Default good advise from all

I grew up running around both lakes and learned how fast storms can run up on you out there. I know this doesn't really relate to choice of boats, but this group sounds like it knows the area well.

I just retired from the Army. I've been gone for over 20 years. I'd like to buy a camp on north end of Maurepas. I can't seem to find anything listed online with no suprise. I'm retiring from Ft. Hood, Tx so can't just run out to the area till I find one. Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Its time for the coonass to come home.
