Default Windshield Crazing?

Have a 2002 Bayscout that's been ok.

But now I have an issue with the "plexiglass" (for lack of a better term) windshield that has what looks like internal spider webbing that seems to be inside the glass itself.

It's like the material itself is degrading internally. Sunlight/UV???

What can I do other than replace it?

Mirro Glaze. Test a small area first thats not obvious. It comes in different Grit levels. It's a liquid. If you can't find it at a marina go to any small airport with a pilot supply store you'll find it there.

Be sure that you are not using windex or any other glass cleaner of that type. I will eventually craze plexiglass/plastic windows.

Plexiglass and Lexan windshields are subject to deterioration from sunlight and chemicals. They are disposable. Your best bet is to just replace them. It's not hard to cut your own and the stuff is relatively inexpensive. If you don't want to deal with UV deterioration, the only solution is to use glass.

I saw this on someones boat, and it was caused by using a boat cover that was not ventilated and the
gas fumes from the tank were trapped inside.

Mine did it as well, it is caused by the cleaner you used ,
I can even see the spray pattern of whatever cleaner I used
Now I just use plain soap and water and stay away from glass cleaners that contain ammonia and such,
Let me know if you find a way to get it out,

good luck

If you took my Plastics class in high school, you would know to never clean acrylic (brand name Plexiglas, Lucite, Acrylite etc.) with anything other than mild soap and water. Never use an amoniated type cleaner like Windex to clean acrylic plastic. It will cloud up and craze. Sun exposure will also cause this. You can polish it with a liquid auto wax or Jubilee kitchen wax to keep it cleaner. They make an acrylic called Lucite SAR. This is a highly abrasion resistant type of plastic which is great for winshields but its difficult to bend. The abrasion resistant coating needs to be masked and removed along the bend line.

Guess I cleaned it with something I should not have used.

Sorry , but I did not take a plastics class in high school.

I'd have figured internal stress after moulding or bending.... hence spider web partern.

Tired of all the little issues with my Scout anyway.
