Default Deck hatch

We bought a 4 year old Parker 2520 and so far love it. A problem has come up though. A hatch was installed on the deck (inside the house) that I believe was designed as a bulkhead hatch. It is plastic and starting to crack. Does anyone know where I can find an 18" x 20" aluminum deck hatch? Is it something that has to be custom ordered? Thanks Granpa

Grandpa,
You will probably have much better luck just replacing it with another plastic one..If it lasts another 4 to 5 years your in business.. Alot of the surplus stores should carry them...

I strongly recommend a high-quality deck hatch. Try Lewmar Hatch and follow the link for Hatches. Look at the medium- or low-profile hatches.

Default Deck hatch

Thanks for your replys. ocnslr, I checked that website and it appears that they only have the bow type window hatches. I need one that is stepped on by everyone entering and exiting the pilothouse. My sons and I are all 200 lbs or there abouts, so it needs to be pretty rugged. I know, maybe we should all shed a few pounds.
Cracker, We may end up doing what you suggest. I did find a couple of suitable replacements in some commercial boat mags that I get but the cheapest one was $330. That would buy a lot of plastic hatches. Can you tell me what you mean by surplus stores? Thanks Granpa

Thanks for the url site. The size and type I need is available there but is even more expensive than the ones I've found. I guess maybe if I want an aluminum permanent solution, I'll need to cough up the big bucks. I've been around boats for 45 years and still haven't gotten used to how much "boat things" cost. Granpa

Lewmar and Bowman(sp?) are two very hight quality hatches that are made of Lexan and are made to withstand being stepped on.
