I use the Star Brite stuff and it works like a champ. There is also some less toxic/harsh stuff I used once called "Rust Gone" or something and it worked well too. Just spray, let it set for a minute or so and watch the stain disappear! Be sure to rinse off the stuff though...

of all these... try barkeeper's friend and a toothbrush first - due to the fact that's it's about a buck a can at your local grocery store....use the rest on your non-skid floor...
On my previous boat I always had rust stains coming from the transom U-bolts. I used a product called Collinite metal wax. It is very effective in removing rust stains. It was great for cleaning the small rust stains on my stainless bow rail also. The products advertised primarily as rust stain removers are usually just strong oxylic acid and come as a liquid in a pump spray. These work well but just don't take a breath while your using them.
