Default Pursuit 247

looking at a 1997 or 2000 Pursuit 247 both equipped with twins...was wondering about thoughts on this boat and if I am undersizing for offshore fishing. And yes I will pick my days to go, weather dependant at most times.

IMO the finest all-around cabin boat ever made in that size range.

I have a 1996 Pursuit 2470 Walk.......bought it new....still looks like new.......now powered with a 2003 Yamaha 250EFI SWII.....soon to be a 300 Suzuki 4s..........it has been 60 + miles off of MD and VA about 124 times.........many bluefin, yellowfin, mahi, 2 white marlin........The boat has been excellent.......pick your days and you should be fine..........2 150's are excellent power for the boat............I'd be happy to discuss with you.

Thanks...I missed this thread in my search, I was looking grady and was glad to see the opinion that the pursuit was a better ride...curious about the statement that it will ride better with the single engine rather than twins

I have a 2000 247 Advance, I'm kinda of new to the boat, since I only bought it 3 months ago. I can tell you that it is a very nice boat. Like other people have said other boats may slice thru chop better. I think more V would help that. On the other hand, it's fairly dry and incredibly stable. I fish out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. The fishing grounds are not very far, 3 to 9 miles usually. So slowing down a bit on the way out doesn't hurt much. The stability however help when trolling. The boat seems to have a gyro. put it on a heading and leave it. I can walk around checking the lines and it won't turn a degree. I have never seen anything like it. That used to be a problem on past boats. I would take weeds off a line and the boat would turn in the direction I was standing. The way I see it. I run for 15 to 20 minutes and troll for 3 to 4 hours and run back for 15 to 20 minutes. That stability means a lot to me.

It has a single Yamaha 225 OX66. Top speed is 42 MPH, and cruise is 30 MPH ar 4000 RPMs. The first fuel tank took 100 gallons over 26 hours of use. It averaged 3.7 GPH. I frankly could not be happier with the boat. Best of luck with your future purchase.

VT: just my opinion that it may ride better with single due to better weight distribution. The problem is correctable with tabs when running, but note stern scuppers are above the waterline on single engine models and those with twins, including mine, sit with scuppers under the waterline with full fuel load. As noted, the stern of Pursuit is U shaped, not V therefore, keeping the bow down will help cut the chop better. If you run in swells, it will not be near as noticeable.
