Mercury Trim Motor Wiring The trim motor on my 200 Mercury came down with a case of water intrusion and, unfortunately, it won’t be able to recover.
The old trim unit is actuated by solenoids, has 3 rams, an aft fill, and a 3-wire motor.
Fortunately, I have a complete trim unit from a later model that was actuated by relays, has 3 rams, an aft fill, and a 2-wire motor.
I’ve read that the later 2-wire motors are both more powerful and draw fewer amps than the older 3-wire setup. I just need to know how to replace a 3-wire trim motor with a 2-wire motor.
I believe I just have to set up a pair of reversing relays, but I’m not entirely sure.
Any help, links, or diagrams will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
